How these countdowns work
Every countdown runs to midnight at the start of the day, in your own time zone. The big number is calendar days to go, the answer to “how many days until”, and the exact time left is shown underneath, down to the second, along with the wait in weeks, hours, and minutes.
Holiday countdowns roll over to the next year by themselves. Birthdays and anniversaries repeat every year, and one-off dates like weddings and trips show how long ago they were once they've passed. When you share a personal countdown, the date is kept in the link itself rather than saved on our server.
