How the due date countdown works
Enter your estimated due date. The big number shows how many calendar days are left, and the boxes below show the same wait in weeks and days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Add a name or nickname and the result reads “Peanut's due date is in 60 days!”
This is a simple countdown to a date, not a pregnancy calculator. It doesn't estimate a due date or track pregnancy weeks; your doctor or midwife gives you the date, and this counts down to it.
A due date is an estimate
Only a small share of babies arrive on their exact due date. Most are born within a couple of weeks either side of it, so it can help to think of the countdown as pointing to a window rather than a single day. If the date is updated at a scan or appointment, just enter the new one.
Once the due date passes, the countdown shows how many days ago it was. Any questions about timing belong with your care provider.
Things people like to have done before the countdown ends
- Install and practice with the car seat.
- Pack a hospital or birth-center bag, and keep it by the door in the last few weeks.
- Sort out who to call, and who looks after pets or older children.
- Cook and freeze a few easy meals.
