Why you enter your own date
There's no single start date for summer vacation. It depends on your school district, college, or country: many US schools finish in late May or early-to-mid June, others later in June, and universities often wrap up in May. In England and Wales most schools break up in late July, and in Australia and New Zealand the long summer break is over Christmas.
So check your school calendar and enter the first day you're off, or the last day of school if that's the moment you're really waiting for. Teachers and parents can do the same; add a name and the result reads “Maya's summer vacation is in 42 days!”
Days, school weeks, and weekends
The big number is calendar days, weekends included. The weeks figure underneath is often the more satisfying one to watch, since a school year really goes week by week: “9 weeks and 3 days” is easier to picture than 66 days. Counting just school days? Knock off roughly two days for every full week, plus any holidays on your calendar.

Making the last stretch count
